My name is Amanda Banks and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an in the state of California. I sincerely enjoy being a therapist and feel it is an honor to be in a field where I can connect with people and help others. I love human interaction and have a passion for wanting to help people feel empowered to explore who they are or where they are struggling in their journey of life. Through empathy, compassion, and a collaborative therapeutic approach, I believe a feeling of fulfillment, growth, and overall mental wellness are possible. I’d like to share with you a little about my journey and what has brought me to the counseling field.
I am recently remarried and live in Lake Havasu City. My family and I thoroughly enjoy the lake life and sunshine here in Arizona! We are often finding a cove to play at on the lake or enjoy a sunset cruise with a picnic dinner. Four daughters including 3 teens and one infant definitely keeps us on our toes, but we accept all the challenges and triumphs that come with being a blended family. Life with 4 girls comes with a lot of feelings and emotional situations, but also many opportunities to express love and understanding. Unfortunately, my first husband passed away in 2017 when he lost his battle with alcoholism. Our journey through this was one of many life experiences that gave me a passion for wanting to help others. Whether you are struggling with your mental health, addiction, grief and loss, domestic violence, relationships, life transitions or just wanting to grow and develop your personal sense of self, I am here to help you reach your therapeutic goals and feel good about the direction you are moving forward in your life.
I offer virtual telehealth therapy to clients located anywhere in the state of California. Although telehealth can feel slightly different than in person therapy, I have found that many clients benefit from the service and make significant progress in their self identified goals while enjoying the convenience and ease of attending virtual sessions. I am an advocate for a humanistic and relational approach in my therapy and always believe that YOU, the client is the expert in their own life while my role is to offer an empathic space to explore and process how to make decisions for self that feel good and bring the personal growth and betterment that you are desiring. I invite you to give virtual therapy a try to see if it’s a good fit for your life and therapeutic journey.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton in Human Services and went on to receive my Masters in Counseling from CSUF as well. I have worked for several years in the mental health field and have worked for different agencies in addition to health centers in the college campus setting. I love working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. I have an eclectic style that allows me to use an integrated approach and tailor my therapy to meet the individual needs of each client. I enjoy the many aspects of the therapeutic process and look forward to helping you in your journey towards wellness.
