Hello! I’m Kris and I am a L
icensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I started my practice, MOTHER WARRIOR COUNSELING, to help women work through life’s challenges and moms recover from perinatal mood disorder. Through my work, I heard time and time again from women that they were feeling "disconnected" and "alone" in their experience of motherhood; without a sense of community or a "village". Through this new awareness, Mother Warrior Counseling has grown to become Village Wellness Center, a place for care, connection, & community for the whole family. I continue to provide individual, couple, and family supportive therapy as well as intensive perinatal support programs. I live in South Orange County with my husband, our two kids, and our crazy dog (who is more like our third child).
When I’m not doing the work I love, I tryyyy to spend some time with my two teenagers (shout out to all the moms navigating THIS minefield), watching the sunset with my husband at his “outdoor sandy office” (must be nice), and watching my favorite shows on constant repeat (I’m a creature of habit!). Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little more about me…
and here’s a little more on why I know we can work together...
My Connection To What You’re Going Through
Hearing someone say “I understand” when they haven’t experienced what you’re going through can leave you feeling irritated and even more isolated than you already do. I want you to know that I understand because I’ve actually been there. I’ve experienced postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, difficult life transitions, relationship struggles, etc….and all as a mom.
Right now, I understand that you feel the saddest you’ve ever felt during a time when you thought you were suppose to feel the happiest. I understand that your anxiety may be so bad that it feels as though you might crawl out of your skin every time the baby monitor makes the slightest sound or with every sunset because you know it would be another night without sleep. I understand that you are over-scheduling, over-controlling, and over-reading. I understand that you want to give up, go away, and disappear. I understand that you cry when you leave your kids and cry when you have to pick them up. I understand you feel shame, guilt, anger, and frustration about everything!
I understand your sense of self has now shifted and you aren’t quite sure who you are anymore or how you’ll get through this. There’s an urge to make it all stop and return to the way it was, and you feel guilty and afraid for thinking this way.
I understand how it feels to experience major shifts in life as a mother. Relationships, jobs, family, community….they are all important parts of who we are and when one or more of them are changing, life can feel overwhelming and unbalanced.
What I want you to know is, although you don’t feel like it right now….
I use a very comfortable and relational approach through the use of humor, empathy, and goal directed conversation that will focus on symptom identification and reduction. We will be a team and walk through this together. We will focus on re-connecting with your authentic self and integrating your “new self” into a whole person that will have a positive and lasting change to the feelings you are struggling with. We will focus on learning to embrace your role in any facet of your life and empower your identity as a Warrior at any stage of your journey. I am passionate about helping moms and it is VERY important to me that you are able to have access to help in a variety of ways so I offer four different ways we can meet. I will come to your home, meet you in the community, meet you online, or see you in an office.
Contact me TODAY so we can start you on your journey towards a more fulfilled, happier, and stronger you.

Hi there, I’m so glad you are here! My name is Krissy Thomas and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I love providing individual, couple, and family therapy and I have an eclectic style that enables me to tailor therapy to fit each individual clients’ needs. I live in Orange County with my husband, our two-year-old daughter, and our fluffy white Goldendoodle Jack. When I’m not working with clients I enjoy running/walking in beautiful places, spending time with my family and friends, participating in sports, painting, and karaoke.
I went to California State University, Long Beach for two years and then transferred and finished my bachelor’s degree at Utah Valley University. I was a collegiate track and field athlete competing in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. I faced several hurdles not only on the track but also in my personal life. These hurdles are what eventually influenced my passion for therapy and deciding to become a therapist myself.
Throughout my early adulthood, I struggled through a series of unsuccessful relationships, low self-worth, and a cycle of unhealthy patterns. With the help of a therapist, I learned to break the cycle, gain confidence and insight, and find the support that I needed to not only pursue my Masters Degree in Counseling, but to also begin the challenging journey of motherhood and marriage.
Each of us struggles through varying degrees of trauma and/or challenges in life. My goal is to provide a safe place where you can explore thoughts, feelings, experiences, and sometimes just unload difficulties that may be weighing on you. Oftentimes, there are connections between our past and present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that we are not aware of. Together, we will explore these connections, identify your patterns, and conquer these struggles, leaving you feeling stronger when the next hurdle in life presents itself.
I enjoyed working for a nonprofit for several years providing psychotherapy to individuals and their families. I have experience working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, gender dysphoria, bipolar, parenting challenges, ADHD, relationship difficulties, substance abuse, emotional abuse, low self-esteem, trauma, and life transitions.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to create a happier and healthier life.

Hi there and welcome! My name is Amanda Johnson, I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I sincerely enjoy being a therapist and feel it is a honor to work in a field where I can connect with people and help others. I love human interaction and have a passion for wanting to help people feel empowered to explore who they are or where they are struggling in their journey of life. Through empathy, compassion, and a collaborative therapeutic approach, I believe a feeling of fulfillment, growth, and overall mental wellness is possible. I’d like to share with you a little about my journey and what has brought me to the counseling field.
I am a single mother raising two daughters in Orange County. We thoroughly enjoy living by the beach and are often down by the water with our toes in the sand or out in the water cruising the channels in our sabot sail boat. Raising kids keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure, and I enjoy all ups and downs that come with being a single parent. Life with a pre-teen and teenager comes with a lot of feelings and emotional situations, but also a lot of opportunities to express love and understanding and learn new ways to respectfully communicate our differences with each one another. Unfortunately, a few years back, my daughters lost their father when he lost his battle with alcoholism. Our journey through this as a family was one of many life experiences that gives me passion for wanting to help others. Whether you are struggling with your mental health, addiction, grief and loss, domestic violence, relationships, life transitions or just wanting to grow and develop your personal sense of self, I am here to help you reach your therapeutic goals and feel good about the direction you are moving forward in with your life.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton in Human Services and went on to receive my Masters in Counseling from CSUF as well. I have worked for several years in the mental health field and have worked for different agencies in addition to health centers in the college campus setting. I work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents, and have a special interest in supporting individuals and families through grief and loss, single parenting, parenting teens, and those struggling with their own, or a loved one’s, addiction. I have an eclectic style that allows me to use an integrated approach and tailor my therapy to meet the individual needs of each client.
I enjoy the many aspects of the therapeutic process and look forward to partnering with you in your journey towards wellness.

Hello, thank you for being here with me! My name is Robynn Mays and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker. From a young age, I knew I wanted to make a change and help others, which is why I pursued and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology, and my Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University. Currently, I am working towards my Doctorate in Marital and Family Therapy with an interest in research regarding postpartum depression amongst mothers.
I reside in Southern California with my husband and our two daughters. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watchings sports, going to Disneyland and Disney World, dancing to music, and bike riding on the beach. Adjusting to life as a new mother and wife, while being in graduate school, was a challenge for me. I began to put a lot of pressure on myself because I felt the pressure to be the perfect mother, wife and student. I distanced myself from my husband and only catered to our daughter. Then I realized I would cry at times because I was overwhelmed with the expectations of motherhood. With guidance through therapy and support from my family, I overcame postpartum depression and it has improved my life.
I always knew I wanted to make an impact on others throughout their life to help resolve struggles, so providing individual, couple, and family therapy to help people through hard times in life has become my passion. Through listening and understanding while showing compassion, I am able to connect with others in order to provide balance through therapy.
I have several years in the mental health field, providing psychotherapy in non-profit agencies, treatment centers, elementary, middle and high schools, and in the university setting. I worked with individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, post-traumatic stress disorder and other mood disorders. And I have experience in treatment with couples and families who are struggling with their relationships, self-esteem and family transitions.
Let me join you in this new chapter in your life. You are the author in your story and I am here to listen to you. If you are struggling with different life situations, such as a mental health disorder, relationships, family dynamics, trauma, shame and guilt, adjusting to parenthood, or you would like to better develop yourself, I am here to walk alongside you to make sure you succeed in your goals and more.
I look forward to getting to know you and helping you through this thing we call life.

Hey there! My name is Brooke Caouette and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University and studied psychology as an undergraduate at Seattle Pacific University. I have worked alongside individuals and families as a program therapist within an intensive outpatient program, an adoptions social worker, a school social worker, and within an inpatient psychiatric unit. This work is nothing short of an adventure and through it all I have learned the tremendous value of healing relationships and holding space for others.
I found my way into the field of mental health after growing up in a dysfunctional household riddled with addiction, abuse, and incarceration. My childhood experiences drive my passion to help others find healing, safety, and a healthy life. I have spent many hours on the therapy couch myself, working through my childhood and young adult experiences. I know firsthand how intimidating and anxiety provoking therapy can be! But it has the potential to be life changing and is the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and your relationships.
I love this work and enjoy the process of forming therapeutic relationships with clients as they share their stories. My first priority is creating a safe and approachable therapy environment- my style is collaborative, empathetic, and casual. I work from a trauma informed, culturally sensitive, and affirming perspective. I have experience working with anxiety, trauma, depression, gender dysphoria, sexuality, bipolar disorders, ADHD, family dysfunction, relational issues, and life transitions. I work alongside client’s to identify what they are experiencing, how it is impacting their functioning, and how to move forward.
Outside of the therapy office, I am a Mama of three and a wife to my high school sweetheart. Together we love to camp in our big blue conversion van, surf, hike, swim, and spend our days at the beach. In those rare moments when I get to be alone I can be found trail running, making delicious food, or immersing myself in a great book.
I am so glad you are considering therapy for yourself, it would be my privilege to be along for the ride!
